Ghost is our newest King addition to the family and is a silver shaded chinchilla male( or high silver with minimal tipping Maine Coon) with beautiful markings and a wonderful, loving disposition. He is sweet and gentle and always curious.

These rare colors feature a white undercoat with very light black tipping that creates a sparkling, bright silver appearance, with shading indicating a darker, more pronounced mantle of color compared to a true chinchilla.

  • Silver: The fundamental color that results from the inhibitor gene greatly reducing dark pigmentation in the hair shaft.
  • Tipping: A characteristic where color is restricted to the hair tips, creating a soft, misted effect rather than bold tabby markings.
  • Chinchilla: A pattern with minimal tipping, leaving the undercoat mostly pure white and creating a very light, sparkling silver appearance.
  • Shaded: A pattern with more extensive tipping (about 1/3 to 1/4 of the hair) compared to chinchilla, resulting in a darker, more pronounced mantle of black or blue on the back, sides, and head.

So essentially, he has a more significant mantle of black tipping that darkens the back and sides, with the color fading to white on the chin, chest, and belly.

We expect him to be very pale, with a bright silver coat with or without some dark tipping, depending on the specific pattern, and with yellow greenish eyes.

These specific silver patterns, are considered very rare and highly sought after.

We expect his silver shaded patterns to be more visible as he continues to grow up, so he will likely change much more before settling into his permanent colors.

Our hope is to allow for more interesting color combinations as we see how genetics work!!
